We’re a creative coworking space. Which means we’re a place that small business owners and artists come together to work, create, grow, inspire, and support each other.

So you’ve got questions about Steel Steel City Studio? We’ll do our best to answer some of them here, but feel free to get in touch if you’ve got a burning question that we haven’t covered in the FAQ below.

But I'm an artist, do I need to run a business?

Do you have to have a registered business? No. Do we provide support to help people get paid to do what they love? Yes! 

What if my business isn't creative?

Our space is home to all types of members, they all have a creative component to what they do. They're not all painters or jewelry makers. We've got writers, designers, landscapers, and social media managers. Chances are, if you like surrounding yourself with creative people, this is the place for you!

How do your memberships work?

We understand that accessing space can feel like it's out of reach for most small businesses or artists. That's why we created the studio in the first place. To help provide space to the growing creative community in our city! Our memberships are flexible and customizable to your budget and needs. There are no long term leases or commitments required. We ask for a 3 month minimum and require 30 days notice to change your membership.

Why should I become a member?

Becoming a part of the studio means joining a community of creative business owners and artists who support, encourage, and inspire each other. Our members enjoy:​​

  • Development opportunities such as workshops and training sessions that help you grow your business.

  • Access to our network of business professionals including lawyers, accountants, bookkeepers, social media managers, insurance brokers, etc.

  • Increased exposure for your business through priority vendor opportunities at local markets and events.

  • Revenue generating support including retail options, workshop hosting tools and support, and collaborations with other members.

  • Connection to supplier discounts, hourly labour support options, and other cost saving tools.

  • Access to equipment such as a drafting table, light table, pottery wheel, easels, sewing machine, screen printing tools, and much more!
